Books
This month I met my Goodreads 2013 Challenge by finishing my 25th book. At this season of my life, I am just not reading nearly as much as I have had in the past but I am happy that I am finally to a point where I can set the 2014 challenge a little higher than 25.
What Alice Forgot: I read Moriarty's newest novel "The Husband's Secret" and enjoyed it a lot until I read "What Alice Forgot", this is a really good really thoughtful novel about life, marriage and motherhood. I was entertained as well as challenged by this story.
One Thousand White Women: The Journals of May Dodd: I so badly wanted to love this but terrible writing really got in the way of an interesting story. Its fictional but written as if it were non fiction, that isn't the problem though, the problem is that the author messes up historical facts and writes from a woman's point of view, not only is the Author a man but his heroine sounds more like a modern day woman than somebody in the 1800s. I think that many of her thoughts and actions were not inaccurate from a feminine point of view but also from a historical voice.
And the Mountains Echoed: This was so very good. If you liked the Kite Runner you will like this novel. Its long and cumbersome but the stories weave together beautifully.
Music
Mainly Disney Junior Soundtracks and Daniel Tiger. But when I get a few minutes alone I have been listening to the new Civil Wars cd, The Le Miz soundtrack and Old Crow Medicine Show Mogg station.
TV & Movies
I just started watching New Girl on Netflix and I love it!
Hell On Wheels is a favorite and this past Saturday night was the finale. It is on Netflix too.
I don't think I watched one single movie this whole month although the Great Gatsby is waiting to be watched on DVD :(
