My word for 2013

1/02/2013 02:05:00 AM
Every year I choose a word that I want to embrace in my life.  So far I have chosen,  Create, Contentment, Abiding, Thankfulness and this year I have thought long and hard about this year's word.  First,  I made a list.

  • Intentional
  • Dream
  • Motivated
  • Create (again)
  • Healthy
But none of them seemed quite right.  The truth is,  that I dream way too much already,  I am not easily swayed by a grim situation,  I am constantly dreaming bigger and better.   I am pretty intentional,  could I improve?  Sure and I plan on continuing to be thoughtful in all areas of my life. I create something almost daily,  I still keep my thankful journal,  I have to be motivated to keep my job... See where this is going?   All the words I thought of are things that I try to practice daily already.  This year I want to stretch myself,  I decided my word is going to be.....

joy
/joi/Noun

1.A feeling of great pleasure and happiness.

2.A thing that causes joy.

Synonyms

delight - gladness - pleasure - mirth - rejoicing

For 2013 I am going to focus on bringing joy into my life and those around me.  When I think about how I want our home to look and feel,  joyful is at the top.  The Bible states, where there is Joy there is Peace.  I want a Peaceful place for my people to come home to.  I want my coworkers to enjoy working with me.  I want to enjoy everyday with this tiny toddler who imitates my every move and mood.  I want to have fun and be fun and not be weighted down by tiny worries in life.  I know the power that is found when you daily pray around a particular word and I know how life changing adding the practice into your life.  So this year I will find the joy in all situations.  In the unknown,  in the dishes, the laundry and the every present mundane tasks.  I will take time to find joy in my marriage, in my family,  in my friendships and even in my hard relationships.  Counting it ALL JOY. (james 1:2)

"You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands."
Isaiah 55:12

PS.  We chose a family word too and I'll share more about that tomorrow!
